The Dulwich Almshouse Charity’s most important priority is to ensure that our residents’ accommodation is fit for purpose, suited to the needs of older people and enables them to maintain healthy, independent lives.
The current Almshouse, Edward Alleyn House, is an iconic building situated in the heart of a vibrant community, yet possesses a number of limitations, including the size of the flats and accessibility challenges for those living longer lives and who may be managing emerging health conditions.
The trustees are committed to identifying solutions to these issues that are in the best interests of residents. The charity is currently exploring a range of options, including the possibility of improving Edward Alleyn House, identifying potential alternative sites for an Almshouse and building new and more homes in the local area.
